This performance was planned and started in 2018 as a tourist option for foreign visitors to Japan. Services not seen in previous Nohgaku performances, such as subtitles and commentary, and delicious Japanese snacks and alcohol stalls, attracted attention, and as weekday entertainment, which was rare in urban areas, it attracted attention not only from tourists but also from domestic business people.
During the most serious period of the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020 to 2021, we streamed live (live broadcast) performances over the Internet, and were successful both with and without spectators.
From 2022 to 2023, we will resume full-scale performances with audiences, and we have attempted interesting and profound projects aimed mainly at domestic enthusiasts, which have been well received.
From 2024, we will enter the fourth phase, and resume projects that can be enjoyed by enthusiasts and first-timers alike. This will be a performance that you can fully enjoy from the time you enter until you leave, with guide media to fully enjoy the viewing, and stalls where you can spend time relaxing in the lobby. From this time on, we will team up with the middle generation in the Noh world and aim to continue in the medium term.
In addition, as in the past, we will continue to record performances live and distribute them online both domestically and internationally for customers who find it difficult to visit the Noh theater.
