For more than half a century, the National Theatre, where various performing arts have been performed as a hall of fame for traditional performing arts.
This meeting of Fusako Shida and Maki will deliver a farewell and gratitude to the National Theater, which is scheduled to be completely renovated from this autumn.
The performance kicked off in grand style with Maki Shida, who won the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award for Art Encouragement this year, performing the classic dance masterpiece "Inohabushi," and living national treasure Fusako Shida, performing the classical dance "Sakuta." Next, Hidetaro Honjo (special appearance) will perform Uta Shamisen, and Maki Shida's dance creation "Black Hair" will deliver the overlap of the beauty of Ryukyu and Yamato.
For the second part, we invited a dancer who is active in the front line of Ryukyu dance from Okinawa to present Fusako Shida's works such as "Firefly" and "Momouri Aneko". We will deliver works that make you feel the scent of Okinawa.
And finally, the creative dance “Yugafu”, which depicts the daily lives of the people of Ryukyu and Okinawa who work hard at rice farming in the idyllic countryside, will be performed from Tokyo in June to world peace. I will perform with my prayers.
From classical dance that conveys the beauty of the dynasty to creative dance, the world of Fusako Shida and Maki Shida, who pursue the artistry and beauty of Ryukyu dance while respecting the old style, along with the current Ryukyu dance that has been handed down to the present day. Fusako Shida
1937 Born in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture. Since childhood, he studied under Morishige Tamaki, a master of Ryukyuan performing arts. After the death of his master, he learned the arts that he was good at from Kiyosato Tajima, Moriyoshi Nakaima, and many other master craftsmen. In addition to the accurate expression of classical dance inherited from the Ryukyu dynasty and miscellaneous dance created in the Meiji and Taisho periods, he has created over 100 works that make you feel the scent of Okinawa. Based in Tokyo and Okinawa, he has worked to spread the artistic value of Ryukyuan dance both domestically and internationally. In particular, he has been highly evaluated for his expressive power and creative works that express the world view of his works with rich artistry using sophisticated techniques. He has received numerous awards, including the Agency for Cultural Affairs Art Festival Award, the Agency for Cultural Affairs Art Encouragement Award from the Minister of Education, and the Commissioner for Cultural Affairs Award. Individual certified holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property "Ryukyu Dance Cube" (Living National Treasure).
Maki Shida Ryukyu Dance Juodori School Nisei Sōke
1970 Born in Tokyo as the second daughter of Fusako Shida (Living National Treasure). Since childhood, he studied under his mother and devoted himself to his studies. In 2007, he succeeded to the name of the second head of the Ryukyu dance Juodori school. In addition to holding her own recital “Ryukyu Buyo Maki no Kai” and appearing in performances sponsored by the National Theater, she also conducts educational activities at university institutions. In addition to performing on the stage that respects the old style unique to Ryukyu dance that has been passed down since the dynasty period, as a successor and embodiment of Fusako Shida's works, she continues to explore and express beauty with an eye to the artistic value of Ryukyu dance. are doing. He has received numerous awards, including the Agency for Cultural Affairs Art Festival New Face Award, the Agency for Cultural Affairs Art Festival Excellence Award, the Agency for Cultural Affairs Art Festival Grand Prize, and the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award for Art Encouragement.
