Noh Sumida River
Sumida River in spring. When a traveler from the city comes to the ferryman waiting for passengers and is about to board, he hears the hustle and bustle of people watching a certain madwoman. A woman from Kitashirakawa, Kyoto, was disturbed by her child who had been kidnapped by a merchant and went down to Togoku. A woman who asks to board a ferry develops a dialogue with the ferryman based on the story of "Higashikudari" in "Ise Monogatari". When the ship leaves, there are many people on the opposite bank. Today, a memorial service was held to mourn for a boy who was bought by a merchant and died here...
What is the fate of my child I searched for? A tragic Noh play set in the spring and beautiful Sumida River.
Kyogen Akubo
A heavy drinker called a bad boy forcibly stops a passing monk and takes him with him. When he arrives at the inn on the way and the villain falls asleep, the priest hears from the innkeeper that this man is a terrible drunkard. In revenge for being teased so badly, he takes up the naginata of the sleeping villain and takes revenge on him...
Noh Nomori Kurogashira Voice of Heaven and Earth
An old man, the Nomori (guardian of the fields), appears before the mountain priest of Mt. Haguro who visits Kasuga's village. When the yamabushi asked the old man about the puddle of water, he said that it was the 'nomori's mirror' where the nomori reflected themselves. And it is said that the original mirror of Nomori is also the mirror of the demon god who lived in the mound in this area long ago, telling the story of an old song and disappearing into the mound.
While the yamabushi is praying, a demon appears with a mirror in his hand, and the state of heaven and earth is reflected in the mirror.
Oni Noh plays a contrast between the generous world of ancient poetry and the majestic mystical world.
