Himuro
A vassal of Emperor Kameyama stops at Mount Himuro in Tanba Province. An old man who guards the icehouse (a facility for storing ice until summer) appears and tells them the story of the ice that is to be offered, and tells them to wait because there is a festival for ice tonight, before disappearing into the icehouse.
Soon, a heavenly maiden appears and dances beautifully, and Himuro Myojin also displays his majesty with the ice in his hand, delivering it to the capital.
Hikkuri
A man who wants to somehow divorce his nagging wife calls her and encourages her to return home, saying that she has been causing him a lot of trouble. The wife, realizing that he has given her leave in a good light, asks for a token of his leave, and when she puts it in the bag, he takes out a small bag...
The husband and wife's bargaining and the conclusion are the highlights of this Kyogen play.
Kayoikomachi
A woman visits a monk in Hatsuse, Yamashiro Province, and implies that she is Ono no Komachi, asks him to perform a funeral service, and then disappears.
Soon, as the monk prays for her soul, Komachi's spirit appears, followed by the spirit of Fukakusa Shosho. Shosho clings to Komachi's sleeve, preventing her from attaining nirvana, and reenacts the hundred-night visits he made to Komachi in life, coming rain or snow. He goes on to say that Shosho is still suffering in hell because of his obsession...
This unique Noh play, with a structure typical of an old work adapted by Kan'ami, depicts the obsession with love of Fukakusa Shosho, who died without fulfilling his wish.
