The Matsue domain was abolished, Shimane prefecture was established, and the samurai The Meiji era lost its stipend. Matsue Castle was demolished, leaving only the castle tower standing tall. How did the former Matsue samurai survive in a rapidly changing era? His father, Masasuke Miura, became an official in Shimane Prefecture and lived in Matsue Castle all his life, and his son Chikayuki Miura, who established himself under the new school system and became a professor at the Kyoto Imperial University's Department of Japanese History. This film follows the lives of the former Matsue feudal retainers, including Hiroyuki Hiroyuki, during a period of social change.
