概要

2017年に刊行された中島弘象氏による話題の著書「フィリピンパブ嬢の社会学」は2023年に映画化され、先行公開となった愛知県では封切後わずか3週間で5,000人を突破。

その後、瞬く間に東京・大阪・福岡など全国に拡がり、スマッシュヒットを記録しました。そんな話題の映画が原案となり、舞台「マハルコ組曲」の製作が決定しました。

マハルコ（Mahal ko）とは、フィリピンの公用語タガログ語で“私の愛する人”を意味します。

1980年代後半、フィリピンから日本にやってきた20歳の少女リオが、やがて日本人男性の妻となり、娘をもつ母となっていく激動の半生を描いた作品です。

本作は中島弘象が自ら、日本での生活を生き抜いたフィリピン人女性たちの実話を基に新たな原案を書き下ろし、劇団野生児童を主宰する脚本家・演出家・俳優と多才な才能を持ち、更に長編映画初監督作品『渇愛の果て、』が現在全国公開中の有田あんが作・演出を担当。歌とダンスを掛け合わせた軽快な音楽劇として描きます。

また、2022年のカンヌ国際映画祭でカメラドール特別賞を受賞した映画『PLAN75』に出演し、自身も同作にてマレーシア国際映画祭で最優秀助演女優賞を受賞、映画『フィリピンパブ嬢の社会学』にもメインキャストとして出演しているステファニー・アリアンが、舞台初主演として時代を駆け抜ける逞しいフィリピン人女性・リオ役を務めます。

The popular book "Sociology of Philippine Pub Girls" by Hirozo Nakajima, published in 2017, will be made into a movie in 2023, and in Aichi Prefecture, where it was released in advance, it exceeded 5,000 viewers in just three weeks after its premiere.

After that, it quickly spread nationwide to Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, and other places, and became a smash hit. The production of the stage play "Mahalko Suite" has been decided based on this popular movie.

Mahalko means "my love" in Tagalog, the official language of the Philippines.

This work depicts the turbulent life of Rio, a 20-year-old girl who came to Japan from the Philippines in the late 1980s, and eventually becomes the wife of a Japanese man and the mother of a daughter.

This work was written by Hirozo Nakajima himself based on the true stories of Filipino women who survived life in Japan, and written and directed by Arita Ann, a talented screenwriter, director and actor who presides over the theater company Wild Children, and whose first feature film, "The End of Thirst for Love," is currently being shown nationwide. It is depicted as a light-hearted musical drama that combines song and dance.

In addition, Stephanie Ariane, who appeared in the film "PLAN75," which won the Camera d'Or Special Award at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the Malaysia International Film Festival for the same work, and also appeared as a main cast member in the film "Sociology of a Philippine Pub Girl," will play the role of Rio, a strong Filipino woman who runs through the times, in her first lead role on stage.
